Tenue du Jour - Black Maxi

Today I'm bringing you a proper outfit of the day, or tenue du jour in French. I was on a wee job hunt today, so I thought this comfy but elegant maxi would be just the right balance. I love the job I have now, and I'd really like to keep it, but I need some more income to throw in a savings account! If I want to move to France next January (oops! spoiler alert!) then I gotta start saving! Plus, I want to fill up my time, and a second job would be a great way to do that.

In about an hour, I'm gonna venture out to a French-speaking meetup, so hopefully others will be there and I can pratiquer mon Français.

This is me attempting to show you the side slit of the dress... I apologize for the intense whiteness of my thigh.

I've been using a new, more luminous foundation for a while now. I really love how healthy and easy it makes my skin look, although I do have to blot it with some powder periodically, or it can end up looking a little TOO shiny. I love that the freckles on my nose show through.

I ended up getting an interview scheduled for tomorrow! Luckily, I know three people who work at this place, so my BFF Natalie is gonna give me some coaching in order to ace the interview.

Until next time! À bientôt mes amies!

Palace de Versailles

One of the activities I accomplished with my mother was the enormous Palace/Chateau of Versailles. Think Marie Antoinette and her husband Louis the sometheenth. (Sorry guys, not so good with historical details!)

The interiors are ridiculously detailed and gaudy, it actually got rather sickening towards the end of the visit. But I'd say it's still worth a visit.

Aside from the main chateau, you can also explore the gardens, two smaller palaces, and the Queen's hamlet. We saw everything there was to see, and I have to say the smaller palaces and hamlet were much more enjoyable, simply because they were far less busy.

It's a super short train ride out to Versailles, followed by a ten minute walk to the palace. There is a lot of walking involved if you decide to explore the gardens, so wear comfortable shoes. Or you can rent a golf cart for around 35 Euro.

The gardens were gorgeous! I'll be posting pictures of the gardens in a separate post. :)

{I adore tiny decorative details!}
{Such great colors and textures}
{Everything is so...frilly}
{I took about fifteen pictures of these details alone}
{Formal bedroom of Marie Antoinette}

{If Marie A. had a helecopter, this is what it'd look like}
{Hall of Mirrors}
{Looking awkward in the Hall of Mirrors}
{Crazy ceiling}
{Another ridiculous ceiling}
{LOVE doors}

{It's Marie}
{Interior Courtyard}
{Moi in front of the gate!}

Travel Journals and Nail Art

Check out my new beautiful travel journals! The floral design, the texture of the pages, and the colors make me so happy. I can't wait to fill them up with thoughts, little sketches, photos, and paper scraps I find along the way. I may share a few pages with you as it progresses.

On a different note, I was struck by a sudden urge to Ombre and sparkle my nails. It took me like an hour... I don't know what got into me. But I'm pretty happy with how they turned out, although they're a bit garish, and a little bit crazy. I'll probably get tired of them tomorrow!

If you've seen any posts on travel journaling, I would love the inspiration!

Pretty Handmade Jewelry

Hey there! The last few weeks I've been really busy with school, and my blogging has really been sparse. But I'm back with another Handmade Stuff feature! This time I'm featuring some unique jewelry from some creative Etsy artists. Enjoy!

{ONE}
If you haven't heard of White Owl's stunning and delicate lace jewelry yet, the time is now. The way they use each piece of lace is so creative! You MUST check out their shop, I wanted to add every single one of their pieces to my favorites.

{TWO}
There are three things I love about this bracelet: the combination of gold and jade green, the combining of different textures, and the tiny bell - which probably sounds like a fairy has come to play every time you move your arm. For an Etsy shop, BrassLady has A TON, and I mean A LOT, of items up for sale. And to put the cherry on top, everything is priced really well.

{THREE}
I find this necklace rather unique. It is a chevron shape, but unlike most other chevron necklaces out there, which are very straight-edged and geometric, FriedaSophie's is made of natural-looking, rough-edged beads. Plus, the colors are amazing.

{FOUR}
What more can be said about embroidered jewelry?! It's so pretty, it doesn't need explaining. Visit Abbey Vanderlin's shop!

That's all this month! Please visit their shops and show them some love by favoriting, buying, or pinning their items! Let's help support the handmade community.

I Love You, Pink Peony Photography

It is time *drumroll* for the start of a wonderful tradition, a tradition that will live in the hearts of all, a tradition that will occur once every month, a tradition called: the "I love you,[insert name of artist]" series, where I choose an artist I swoon, drool, and otherwise ogle over, and feature some of their work!

To start off this grand and momentous tradition, I have chosen someone very special, and I must confess that I love you, Pink Peony Photography. You've described your images best in your shop, "fun and sweet." Your images are full of pastels, cute things, flowers, and more cute things. Your photographs are light, bright, and happy, without looking washed-out or over-processed. Bravo, Pink Peony Photography, for earning a spot on my favorites list.

Sunny Sunshine

In honor of the overcast day I enjoyed yesterday, I have made a playlist to encourage sunny days. Call it a modern-day rain dance, without the dancing.

When you need a little sunshine by Hannah Wilson on Grooveshark

I've also gathered some of my favorite items on Etsy that feature sunny yellows in their palettes. I feel happier just looking at it!
